With my academic background in Applied and Human Biology and several years working in the pharmaceutical industry it was a natural progression for me to look at how our minds and bodies are connected and how this can impact on our health, emotions and behaviour. My fascination with hypnotherapy started 16 years ago in 1992 while I was at university in Liverpool - I was treated with hypnosis and it changed my life. Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy has been a huge part of my life since then (even with the pregnancies and births of my 2 son’s in 2004 and 2007).
Since leaving university in 1996 I have undertaken further studies with the Northern School of Hypnotherapy, the London College of Clinical Hypnosis ( whom I am now a tutor for) and the University of Greenwich and The HypnoBirthing institute to name but a few. I also regularly teach and attend advanced hypnosis seminars. Currently I am a member of the Northern Association of Professional Clinical Hypnotherapists, A Full member British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, The Complementary and Alternative Medicine Researcher Network and the infertility network UK. I am also a certified HypnoBirthing practitioner and HypnoFertility practitioner.
My busy full time hypnotherapy Clinic is based at the Astwood Clinic in Huddersfield where both private and NHS patients are welcome. I regularly teach HypnoBirthing classes to expectant couples, and teach midwives how to work with HypnoBirthing couples. Other classes include Stress management and self hypnosis across the Yorkshire region and I also work with couples with fertility issues across the UK.
I also speak at medical meetings about hypnosis, HypnoFertility and HypnoBirthing.
During my Clinical work I use many Psychotherapeutic and Hypnotherapeutic techniques which includes suggestion therapy and Hypno-analysis as well as interventions such as E.M.D.R (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), EFT (emotional freedom technique) and Ego state therapy.
